This was the first main event at the Club since the relaxation of the lockdown rules, as attended by nearly 50 members and guests. The attendees were greeted by President Robin Morrison and his wife Jenny in the main bar before the event, where Hon. Secretary Alan Roden duly entertained them (or otherwise) with his accordion playing.
Clive Bowen-Davies called everyone into dinner at 7.30 pm prompt. President Robin formally greeted those assembled and thanked them for attending. He welcomed them to the new and recently modified Edwardian Lounge (in which he was instrumental in creating to attract more events into the future).
This was created in the extra space made by removing 2 of the snooker tables and installing appropriate lighting, new chairs and tables and replenished cutlery. President Robin introduced the format of the evening and the entertainment which would be provided after the dinner.
The new area was furnished with 6 round tables accommodating 8 people each which facilitated conversation and comfort as a vast improvement to the historic need for diners to sit round the snooker tables in a "less friendly" fashion.
The buffet was one of Tim's legendary "Royal Buffets" with a magnificently prepared salmon, cold meats, all the trimmings and nicely finished off with desserts , cheeseboard and coffee and tea.
Tracey and her staff did an admirable job of attending to the needs of everyone as is customary.
After dinner, and a short break, President Robin introduced the entertainer - David Moylan - who is well known from his performances at Warwick Castle - with his own special brand of magic, humour and song.
David entertained us royally with humorous magic tricks, jokes and witty ditties whilst playing a range of musical instruments.
President Robin concluded the evening by thanking all who had contributed and wished everyone a safe journey home. The evening (the first of its kind in the newly laid out extended lounge) was a huge success.
