The 128th Annual General Meeting was held at the Club on Monday 1st December 2025.

17 members attended the meeting.

Apologies were received on behalf of Mike Aston, Clive Bowen-Davies, Stuart Edwards, Robert Franks, Mark Ryan, Andrew Taplin, Martin Timmins, Graham Wood, Kenneth Wright, William and Jess Barclay, Dennis Lees, Ed Davies, Bill Harris and Luke Brennan.

President Arnold Homer opened the meeting and welcomed and thanked all attendees.

The first action was to remember those members who had sadly passed away since the last AGM. These were past presidents John Edwards and Rob Hill; Paul Hingley (long standing member and ex Chair of Governors at KEVI College); Brian Hughes, John Hand and Roy Mucklow.

The minutes of the last AGM (December 2024) had been issued and displayed for longer than the required period. It was agreed that they should be accepted and the President signed them. There were no matters arising.

The annual report and financial statement document had previously been circulated (both the Hon. Secretary Alan Roden and Hon. Treasurer David Burrows were available for any queries) and it was duly accepted.

President Arnold Homer announced that he had agreed to continue his presidency for a further year, owing to the commitments of others. He thanked Alf Edwards for agreeing to continue as his Vice President for the coming year, pending his anticipated election as President at the next AGM in December 2026.

The Hon. Secretary announced the nominations for appointment as Officers and nominations in respect of General Committee vacancies. All had been proposed and seconded and visible on the notice board for more than 7 days before the meeting.

Andrew Taplin was re-nominated to the post of Honorary Membership Secretary; David Burrows as the returning Honorary Treasurer and Alan Roden as the returning Honorary Secretary.

Clive Bowen-Davies, John Brown Roger Hadley and Roger Stephenson had retired by rotation but were standing for re-election. Luke Brennan was nominated to serve onto the General Committee. No other nominations had been received for Officer positions nor Committee members and hence no ballot was required. All nominees were duly appointed. There are still 3 vacancies on the Committee - carried forward to next year's AGM nominations in the absence of immediate other nominations for this AGM.

Messrs Folkes Worton LLP, Chartered Accountants were re-appointed as Honorary Auditor for the period ending on the date of the next annual general meeting at which accounts are presented to the Club.

The accepted approach for an Honorary Solicitor was that we leave the position vacant on the basis we can consult a person with legal expertise as needed.

The President thanked everyone for their support and commented on how time flies because there is so much to do. He referred to this wonderful club. There are few clubs where the club belongs to its members though we have considerable natural wastage of our numbers due to age.

The youngsters at the College have no interest in the Club. Hence the President is pleased that Luke Brennan is joining the Committee and at risk of lowering the average of the Committee to "70 something"!

He continued that we need to give serious thought to how we continue and deal with the rapidly ageing membership. This is a prime site with the site next door. One possibility may be for a new building in which we might occupy the ground floor. Perhaps it could be called a "King Edward house". We need to be "movers and shakers" if we want to progress the Club. It will be hard work for it to have a meaningful future.

The President concluded with confidence that we will all give the same support to his successor.

Past President Peter Cartwright then thanked the President for the continuance of the excellent position of the Club. He added thanks to the Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Membership Secretary, Hon. Secretary, Social Committee and Chair of House Committee (David Trewin) for managing the Club's operations. Finally he thanked our excellent stewards, Tim and Tracey, for all they do for us and for our many venue hirers.

The President closed the meeting at 8.23 pm.
