Our annual, much anticipated celebration of St. David's Day and all things Welsh took place on Friday February 27th. It was attended by 47 members and guests and, of course, masterminded by our own Mike "Dafydd" Lewis who provided various contributions in his inimitable style.
Tim, our steward, personally produced the entire tasty feast and Tracey and her staff were on hand to serve it efficiently.

We are indebted to David Trewin (Chair of House Committee) for producing the seating plan which was proudly on display in the hall and included for posterity.
The programme cards together with the menu are also included so that those unable to attend can view what unfolded.
Apologies to anyone missed on the photos and we hope the gallery below is an adequate record of the event.
(Note for those on phones viewing this that you may have to click on "more" underneath galleries to display more photos).
The menu consisted of a starter of smoked salmon and prawn salad; main course of roast leg of Welsh lamb and all the trimmings; a selection of cheeses with a fresh fruit platter; followed by Welsh cakes and coffee.
Cheers!

Pre-dinner drinks and convivial chats took place in the main bar (or in advance, seating at the tables in the Edwardian Lounge) at this well attended event.

Mike (Dafydd) welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their attendance (some of whom had travelled considerable distances) and updated us on some of those who could not attend due to health issues.
David Winterford (who had travelled all the way from the Wirral) led an enthusiastic rendering of the English National Anthem before the ever youthful Past President Clive Bowen-Davies said a version of the "Grace".
The meal was then served followed by the after-dinner programme with various humorous contributions from our host, Mike.
David Trewin recited an entertaining passage named "Birth of Wales". Then Huw Jenkins provided a tribute to Max Boyce called "Doctors' Papers".
David Winterford (historically a big band singer) led us in a professional rendering of "Green, Green Grass of Home".
Sandra and David Trewin recited a passage "Under Milk Wood Revisited" (Dylan Thomas).
President Arnold Homer followed with Eli Jenkins prayer.
Huw Jenkins returned with a further Max Boyce tribute "Two Silver Clocks".
Finally, Chris Deacey led a communal rendering of "We'll Keep a Welcome in the Hillside" and then the Welsh National Anthem (enjoyed by those struggling with the Welsh words!).
President Arnold wished everyone good night and a safe journey and thanked all those who had made the evening possible and enjoyable - Tim and Tracey, the attendees, those who had prepared the various materials and those who had provided significant contributions - in particular Mike Lewis without whose ongoing enthusiasm and humour these evenings would not happen at all.
All in all, a great night again - well done Mike.
